Pediatric Orthopedics at the
Alfred I duPont Hospital for Children

Founded originally as the "hospital for crippled children" in 1940, the A.I. duPont Hospital for Children has long provided regional, national, and international leadership in the field of orthopedics. Today, after six decades and the hospital's evolution to a full-service children's medical center, the Department of Orthopedics accounts for more than 40,000 visits annually.

With eleven full-time, fellowship-trained attending surgeons, the duPont Hospital offers the largest clinical practice in the United States, as well as the country's largest pediatric training program for orthopedic residents and fellows.

Specialty programs and services in orthopedics attract patients from across the country and around the world to the duPont Hospital for Children. The department has fulfilled the vision of Alfred I. duPont to provide the highest quality, most compassionate care for children. It continues, under the leadership of the present outstanding orthopedic faculty, to fulfill that mission by expanding its geographic reach through collaboration with partner organizations, and by developing technological and procedural expertise that is unparalleled.
