Module 39, General Medical Level

This 17 year old white female was involved in an MVA one week prior to presenting to the doctor's office. She presented with localized low back pain, there was no radiation of the pain. She had not noticed any weakness or numbness.


Question 39A

A complete physical examination would be notation on spinal range of motion and reflexes.


Question 39B

The current history is sufficiently complete.


Question 39C

No imaging studies are indicated if the physical examination and history are otherwise completely normal.


Question 39D

Presuming there is no other positive history or examination beyond that given at presentation, the correct treatment of this girl is a period of strict bed rest.


Question 39E

Definite improvement in this condition is expected by 6 to 8 weeks after injury.
