We drove to Arenal mid-week, after visiting the Central Market. We stayed at a small place near Fortuna; 4 cottages and the owner's place. From the back porch you could see Arenal, and at night the red-hot boulders it ejected would careen down the side, making a mini display of fireworks from this distance.

Spices at the central market in San Jose. We bought a blend for rice, and a coating for fish. Fun back at home.
