The bone regenerates over several years so the previous harvesting will
not be important in deciding where to obtain grafting material.
Other
bone graft material have no proven efficacy in providing fusion mass.
Coralline
Hydroxyappatite (Pro Osteon) is an approved and documented option for this
case.
Demineralized
bone matrix glycerol suspension (Grafton, Osteotech) is an approved material
for this patient and has the additional advantage over bank bone of not
having a risk for disease transmission.
Freeze
dried bank bone graft provides only osteoconduction when used as a graft
material
