The collection and interpretation of motion analysis data is a team effort. The gait laboratory staff is comprised of pediatric orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, biomechanics, and administrative assistants who work together to conduct the gait analysis and recommend appropriate treatment options.
The administrative assistant schedules appointments, provides general information, and manages the patient records. The physical therapists supervise the child throughout the gait analysis, assist with the interpretation of results, and can also help educate the family regarding possible recommendations. The biomechanists run the hardware and software necessary for data collection, process the data to generate graphics for the final report, and maintain the wide array of technical equipment in the laboratory. The pediatric orthopedic surgeon leads the team in interpreting the test results and recommending treatment.
